Program Cost

Fee Structure

Our total Program Cost is $6,000

Those candidates with positions in member/associate member districts (Roaring Fork, Garfield Re-2, Garfield 16, Aspen, and DeBeque) unable to get financial assistance will receive in kind supports to ensure a that a maximum out of pocket cost of $3,000 while those candidates in all other districts and other schools unable to receive significant financial support will incur a maximum out of pocket cost of $4,400.

Alternative teachers are paid a salary by their hiring school district. Salary schedules vary by district and can be found on the school district websites or by calling the Human Resource department in each district.

Colorado River BOCES program fees are the responsibility of the candidate. Some districts offer fiscal incentives and/or payroll deduction options.

All charges payable for fingerprints, tests and applications to CDE are paid directly by the candidate.

Candidates will be expected to pay 25% by September 30, 50% by January 1, and 25%, the final payment, by April 30. If you need help spreading your payments out further, please contact us and let us know how we can help.

 Financial Support

NEW!!!!! Educator Recruitment and Retention Program

CDE is initiating a new program to financially support alternative licensure teachers serving in shortage areas defined by the state.

Under this program, qualified program applicants can apply for up to $10,000 in one-time financial assistance toward program cost if they commit to teaching in a shortage area for three years. Information is available here. Educator Recruitment and Retention Program | CDE (state.co.us)

Applicants must hold their alternative license and have secured employment as an alternative teacher in a shortage area .

This funding will be made available to candidates currently in the program, and then annually each year after.

Check the following to see if you qualify

  • You possess or will possess your alternative licensure by the application window

  • You work in a designated shortage area.

  • You are willing to commit to three years of teaching in that area

Colorado Workforce Program

The Colorado Workforce Center is often able to assist candidates in paying a portion of the program fees. Begin by contacting the local Colorado Workforce Center in your area.

PayPal charges .49 per transaction plus 2.9% of your total as a transaction fee. Your total will include the transaction fee.
