The Colorado River BOCES (board of cooperative education services) has been serving school districts in the Roaring Fork Valley to
De Beque since 2017. Our main office is located in Parachute, CO. We provide special education leadership and services,
administer Yampah Mountain High School, provide alternative licensure, and administers Colorado's supplemental and
blended learning program.

Member Districts include De Beque School District 49 JT, Garfield 16 School District, Garfield County School District Re2, and Roaring Fork School District.

The CRBOCES BrainSTEPS Team

More than 70% of all students in Colorado are being supported by a BrainSTEPS Team. Administrative Units are encouraged to form a BrainSTEPS CO Brain Injury Consulting Team to manage students with all severities of brain injuries (including concussion). This collaborative project between the ESSU and the Health & Wellness Unit provides initial training, materials, ongoing training, consultation, and support at no cost to districts. 

BrainSTEPS benefits everyone. When we understand the brain, we understand the needs of all learners. Go to the BrainSTEPS webpage for more information.  

The Brainsteps team is made up staff from the CRBOCES member districts, the team has attend trainings in the area of Traumatic Brain Injury and concussions. The team is designed to help schools with interventions and to determine if a student meets the criteria for a special education identification of TBI.

The CRBOCES Autism Team

Autism spectrum disorder is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socializes with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. The disorder also includes limited and repetitive patterns of behavior. The term "spectrum" in autism spectrum disorder refers to the wide range of symptoms and severity.

The Autism team is made up staff from the CRBOCES member districts, the team has attended specific trainings in Autism and are trained on the ADOS. The team is designed to help schools with interventions and to help determine if a student meets the criteria for an educational identification of Autism.   

The Autism team members are Christie Pate-GarfieldRe1 SLP, Denise Rahe-CRBOCES Special ed Director, Deb Ghan-GarfieldRe2 SLP and Child Find Coordinator, Jackie Zimmerman-CRBOCES School Psych, McKenzie Shawcroft-CRBOCES School Psych Intern, Walker Mills-CRBOCES OT.
