Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Location: Yampah Mountain High School, Glenwood Springs, CO
Reports To: PrincipalPosition Summary:
Yampah Mountain High School is seeking dedicated and flexible Substitute Teachers to provide high-quality instruction and classroom management in the absence of regular teachers. The ideal candidate demonstrates a passion for supporting diverse learners, values alternative education approaches, and fosters a safe and engaging learning environment aligned with the school’s mission.
About Yampah Mountain High School:
Yampah Mountain High School is an alternative public high school serving students from multiple districts in the Roaring Fork Valley. Our program emphasizes individualized learning, strong relationships, experiential education, and personal growth. We value creativity, flexibility, and connection as key elements of student success.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver lesson plans and instructional materials left by the classroom teacher or create engaging, age-appropriate activities when plans are not provided.
Maintain a positive, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
Support students’ academic and social-emotional needs in alignment with school culture and expectations.
Communicate effectively with students, staff, and administrators.
Follow all school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Manage classroom attendance and submit required reports as directed.
Adapt to different subjects, grade levels, and student needs as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Colorado Substitute Authorization, Teacher License, or ability to obtain authorization through the Colorado Department of Education.
Ability to work collaboratively with staff and demonstrate professionalism and reliability.
Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Experience working with high school students, especially in alternative or experiential education settings.
Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
As needed, based on staff absences and scheduling.
Flexible daily assignments (full-day or half-day).
The daily rate is $153.75
